According to the National Science Board 2030 Report (released May 2020), the worldwide demand for STEM-capable (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) workers keeps growing, driven by international opportunities and competition, and by rapid increases in the number of jobs that require STEM skills, including in lines of work that historically did not require S&E knowledge. This situation will only become more urgent: by 2026, S&E jobs are predicted to grow by 13% compared with 7% growth in the overall U.S. workforce.
Yet even as STEM competencies have become more essential, U.S. K-12 mathematics and science scores are well below those of many other nations and have stagnated.
The challenge for educators is to embrace STEM in the classrooms. STEM is more than just building a mousetrap car or a paper bridge. Educators who are STEM Experts embrace curriculum involving hands on experiences for students in the classroom. We have the expertise to help schools and teachers integrate STEM curriculum effectively in grades P-12. We are continuing to learn alongside our partners in all areas of STEM, including quantum. Quantum for All is an initiative dedicated to developing curriculum and providing opportunities for students to learn about quantum in K-12.
